for all Tasmanian coastal waters.
Issued at 5:05 am EDT on Wednesday 3 December 2008

Synoptic Situation
A westerly stream with an embedded cold front to cross Tasmania tomorrow morning
and a high to approach from the northwest tomorrow evening.

Strong Wind Warning
For the Southwest Coast, South East Cape to Low Rocky Point
West to northwest winds 20 to 30 knots, tending west to southwest at 20 to 30
knots this morning. Seas to 3 to 5 metres. West to southwest swell 3 to 4
metres.

Strong Wind Warning
For Western and Northern waters, Low Rocky Point to St Helens Point
West to northwest winds 15 to 25 knots, reaching 30 knots at times, easing about
the west overnight and the northwest in the morning and tending west to
southwest. Seas 2 to 4 metres.
Swell:
West: West to southwest 3 to 4 metres.
North: Westerly 1 to 2 metres.

Strong Wind Warning
For the Southeast Coast, Tasman Island to South East Cape
West to northwest winds 15 to 25 knots, tending west to southwest at 20 to 30
knots this morning. Seas 2 to 4 metres. West to southwest swell 3 to 4 metres,
lower inshore.

Strong Wind Warning
For the Upper East Coast, and Lower East Coast St Helens Point to Tasman Island
Southwesterly winds 25 to 30 knots developing offshore in the afternoon. Seas
mostly to around 3 metres.
Confused swell to 1.5 metres, tending southerly in southern parts.

The next warning will be issued by 11:00 am EST

Please be aware
Wind gusts can be a further 40 percent stronger than the averages given here,
and maximum waves may be up to twice the height.

Masses of cloud are crossing TAS in strong, cold westerlies behind a cold front, causing widespread showers to the west and just isolated showers further east. Showers are falling as snow about the highlands.

Lower East West to northwest winds 10/20 knots, 25 knots offshore, shifting southwest near midday at 15/25 knots, locally 30 knots offshore.  Sea: Up to 3.0 m  Swell: Up to 1.5 m
Northeast West to northwest winds 15/25 knots, reaching 30 knots locally, easing to 15/20 knots in the evening and tending southerly in southern parts.  Sea: Up to 3.0 m  Swell: Up to 1.5 m
Southeast West to northwest winds 15/25 knots, 30 knots offshore, tending west to southwest in the morning at 20/30 knots, easing to 15/25 knots in the evening.  Sea: Up to 4.0 m  Swell: Up to 4.0 m
Southwest West to southwest winds 20/30 knots easing to 15/25 knots in the evening.  Sea: Up to 4.0 m  Swell: Up to 4.0 m
Upper East Northwest winds 10/20 knots, 25 knots offshore at first, shifting south to southwest during the day at 10/20 knots, increasing to 25/30 knots offshore for a period.  Sea: Up to 2.0 m  Swell: Up to 1.0 m
