Coastal Waters Wind Warning
For the West, South Central and South East Coasts and Gulf Waters.
Issued at 5:15 am CST on Friday 29 August 2008

Synoptic situation
a cold front over Western Australia will move into the Far West Coast tonight
and reach the Victorian border late Saturday evening. Another front will move
across coastal waters on Sunday morning.

Strong Wind Warning
for the West, South Central and South East Coasts and Gulf Waters.
NE/NW winds strengthening to 20/33 knots tonight and early Saturday, turning SW
20/30 knots on the West Coast Saturday morning. Isolated thunderstorms
developing on the Far West Coast. Seas rising 1.5 to 2.5 m. SW swell 2.5 to 3.5
m.

The next warning will be issued by 11:00 am CST Friday.

Please be aware
Wind gusts can be a further 40 percent stronger than the averages given here,
and maximum waves may be up to twice the height.

High cloud is blanketing almost all of eastern SA ahead of an upper trough, bringing areas of patchy light rain and the odd storm. There is a narrow clear break of sky in the west thanks largely to strengthening dry northerly winds.

Far West Coast NE/N 18/23 knots, turning N/NW 18/23 knots during the afternoon and W/SW 20/25 knots west of Head of Bight in the evening. Isolated late afternoon and evening thunderstorms.  Sea: Up to 2.5 m  Swell: Up to 3.0 m
Gulf Waters NE/N 13/18 knots freshening to 18/23 knots on Spencer Gulf late afternoon and Gulf St Vincent during the evening, increasing to 23/28 knots over Spencer Gulf south of Cowell to Wallaroo during the evening.  Sea: Up to 2.5 m  Swell: Up to 2.5 m
South Central North and east of Cape Borda, NE/N 13/18 knots, freshening to 18/23 knots late evening. Remainder NE/N 18/23 knots, strengthening to 20/30 knots in the evening.  Sea: Up to 2.5 m  Swell: Up to 3.5 m
South East NE/N 13/18 knots, freshening to 18/23 knots during the late afternoon or evening and increasing to 20/30 knots offshore west of Cape Jaffa in the evening.  Sea: Up to 2.5 m  Swell: Up to 3.5 m
West Coast NE/N 18/23 knots, strengthening to 20/30 in the evening.  Sea: Up to 2.5 m  Swell: Up to 3.5 m
