For East of Wilsons Promontory
Issued at 10:20 am EST on Saturday 30 August 2008

Synoptic situation
A deepening low pressure system southwest of Adelaide is moving southeast.

Strong Wind Warning
Wilsons Promontory to Lakes Entrance
Northeast to northerly wind 15 to 20 knots increasing to 20 to 30 knots offshore
by this afternoon. Seas rising 2 to 3 metres offshore. Swell: South to
southeasterly around 1 metres. Northeasterly swell 1 metre developing.

Gale Warning
Lakes Entrance to 60nm east of Gabo Island
Northeast to northerly wind 15 to 20 knots increasing to 20 to 30 knots , and
locally reaching 35 knots later. Sea rising 2 to 4 metres offshore. Swell: South
to southeasterly around 1 metre. Northeasterly swell rising 1 to 2 metres.

The next warning will be issued by 4.30pm EST Saturday.

Wind gusts can be a further 40 percent stronger than the averages given here,
and maximum waves may be up to twice the height.

VICTORIAN SEVERE WEATHER WARNING
for Localised Damaging Winds
For people in the Wimmera and Western Districts.
Issued at 10:05 am EST on Saturday 30 August 2008

Northerly winds are expected to increase to average up to 60km/hr with isolated
gusts to 90 km/hr over elevated parts of the Wimmera and across the Western
District late Saturday morning and afternoon.

In the interests of community safety the SES suggests some simple precautions:
Secure any loose objects in the vicinity of your house, beware of fallen
powerlines and, if you are boating, then return to shore as soon as possible

The next warning is due to be issued by 5pm Saturday.

This warning is also available through TV and Radio broadcasts; the Bureau's
website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 217.The Bureau and State Emergency
Service would appreciate this warning being broadcast regularly.

waves may be up to twice the height.

North to northeast wind 15 to 20 knots increasing to 25 to 30 knots in the
afternoon. Waves rising 1 to 2 metres.

A deepening low pressure system southwest of Adelaide is moving steadily
southeastwards.

Strong Wind Warning
Cape Otway to Wilsons Promontory
North to northeast wind increasing to 20 to 30 knots from the west. Sea rising 2
to 3 metres. West to southwesterly swell 1.5 to 2.5 metres.

The next warning will be issued by 4.30 pm EST Saturday.

A deepening low pressure system southwest of Adelaide is moving steadily
southeastwards.

Gale Warning
SA/Vic Border to Cape Otway
North/northeasterly wind 20 to 30 knots further increasing to 25 to 35 knots
during the afternoon. Sea rising 2 to 4 metres offshore. Swell: Southwesterly 3
to 3.5 metres.

The next warning will be issued by 4.30pm EST Saturday.

Extensive cloud is spreading over western VIC ahead of a trough, causing light rain near the SA border. The rain is gradually increasing and spreading further east. High cloud reaching central regions is not causing rain. Mostly clear over the east in mild and stable northerlies.
