Road Weather Alert
Issued at 10:24am on Sunday the 12th of October 2008

Cancellation of warning for Midland and Tamar Valley roads.

Areas of fog have mostly cleared.

For information regarding road closures, contact your local council or Tasmania
Police.

This warning is also available through TV and Radio broadcasts; the Bureau's
website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 216.

The Tasmanian Bureau of Meteorology and State Emergency Service would appreciate
this warning being broadcast regularly.

Coastal Waters Wind Warning
for all Tasmanian coastal waters.
Issued at 9:55 am EDT on Sunday 12 October 2008

Synoptic Situation
A high is centred over the Tasman Sea, while a cold front to the west is
expected to cross Tasmania early tomorrow morning.

Gale Warning
For eastern, southern and western waters between St Helens Point and Sandy Cape.
Northeast to northwest winds 10 to 20 knots, reaching 25 knots in the southwest,
strengthening to 20 to 30 knots this afternoon, and further to 30 to 40 knots in
the west and southwest late tonight, locally 35 knots in the east. Seas 1 to 2
metres rising to 3 to 5 metres late.
Swells: In the west and south-Southwest 3 to 4 metres decreasing to 2 to 3
metres.
In the east- Southerly 1 to 2 metres, reaching 3 metres about the south at
first.

Strong Wind Warning
For remaining waters Sandy Cape to St Helens Point
Northeast to northwest winds 5 to 15 knots, freshening to 15 to 25 knots later
in the afternoon, and further to 20 to 30 knots this evening. Winds tending west
to northwesterly about northwestern waters late tonight at similar speeds. Seas
rising to 2 to 3 metres. Areas of sea fog at first.
Swells: In the northwest- Southwest 3 metres decreasing to 2 metres.
In the north- Westerly 2 metres.
In the northeast -Confused 1 metre.

The next warning will be issued by 5:00 pm EST

Please be aware
Wind gusts can be a further 40 percent stronger than the averages given here,
and maximum waves may be up to twice the height.

for Southwest and Central Plateau Lakes
Issued at 5:28am on Sunday the 12th of October 2008

Initial
North to northwest winds 5 to 15 knots increasing to 15 to 25 knots later today,
reaching 30 knots over southwestern lakes tonight.

Next routine issue by 11am.
