Synoptic situation
A cold front with associated low to the south expected to move over the
southwestern Tasman Sea later on Sunday. N/NW winds increasing along NSW coast.

Strong Wind Warning
For the South Coast, From Gabo Island to Ulladulla

NW/NE wind reaching 25/30 knots, chiefly offshore. Seas 2 to 3 metres. Swell to
2 metres.

UPDATED Strong Wind Warning
For the Far North Coast, Mid North Coast, Hunter Coast, Sydney and Illawarra
Coast, From Ulladulla to Point Danger

NW/NE winds increasing to 25/30 knots during Sunday, chiefly offshore. Sea
rising 2 to 3 metres. Swell to 1.5 metres.

The next warning will be issued by 11 pm Saturday

Please be aware
Wind gusts can be a further 40 percent stronger than the averages given here,
and maximum waves may be up to twice the height.


Sheep graziers warning

Graziers are advised of impending COLD, WET and WINDY weather in the
following districts for Sunday:

NORTHERN TABLELANDS
NORTHWEST SLOPES AND PLAINS
CENTRAL WEST SLOPES AND PLAINS
Rain is expected to increase Saturday night and N/NW winds to freshen early
Sunady ahead of cool , fresh W/SW change later in the day.

Damaging/Hazardous Winds
For people in the Alpine areas of: ACT, South West Slopes and Southern
Tablelands.
Issued at 9:50 am on Saturday 30 August 2008

Synoptic Situation: 9:00 am EST Saturday
A cold front expected to move across the Alpine areas Sunday afternoon or
evening.

Northwest winds ahead of the front are expected to increase during Saturday
afternoon and evening to average over 65 km/h with peak wind gusts expected to
exceed 90 km/h. In areas above 1900 metres winds are expected to average over 80
km/h with peak wind gusts expected to exceed 125 km/h.

Emergency services advise you to keep clear of fallen power lines, stay indoors
away from windows and keep children indoors.

The National Parks and Wildlife Service recommends that people consider
postponing back country travel until conditions improve.

number 132 500.

The next warning is due to be issued by 05:00 pm Saturday

This warning is also available through TV and Radio broadcasts; the Bureau's
website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 218. The Bureau and State Emergency
Service would appreciate this warning being broadcast regularly.

Extensive cloud is crossing NSW with a trough, causing rain in the west to spread to the slopes and ranges. Cloud over the northeast in a weakening trough is still triggering a few light showers. The central and south coasts remain generally dry for now in the lee of the ranges.
