Walcha Shire declared natural disaster
The Walcha Shire has been declared a natural disaster area following the severe flooding and storm events of the weekend, providing relief for farmers who lost fences and livestock.
Minister for Primary Industries on Alstonville closure
Researchers that have worked at the Alstonville DPI since the 1970's say that the cuts, or consolidation which is what the government is calling it, have been a long time coming.
However Minister MacDonald denies all claims, particularly that research and knowledge will be lost if the Centre for Tropical Horticulture is shut down.
