Fats Domino {all-star tribute to him. Repeat: 1st aired 6.10.07}

Happily, rumours of Fats Domino’s death proved untrue. He was dramatically rescued five days after Hurricane Katrina lashed New Orleans. His possessions are mostly gone, but the fat man is alive, kicking and still giving. After donating proceeds from his latest ‘live’ recording to a charity, he then invited an extraordinary array of famous admirers to salute him and thereby help fund a new community centre and Music Co-Op in the impoverished/devastated Lower 9th Ward. The double CD Goin’ Home: a Tribute to Fats Domino needs no ‘charity’ from critical ears; it is enormously more enjoyable than most such all-star tributes.
