In early 1940s Melbourne, as the war got under way in earnest, a youth called Barry Poole decided that living on the streets was a more exciting prospect than life at home and at school.
In this interview he recalls his years as a wartime street urchin, his stints in and out of boys' homes and reform schools, and a youth spent as a self-styled 'professional delinquent'.
