Decoupling versus globalisation?

In the past year a theory known as decoupling has entered the lexicon, in short it suggests that booming economies such as China and India are now strong enough to resist the influences of America.

But some pundits - specifically the pro-globalisation camp - are dismissing decoupling as yesterday's news, as a fad whose time has been and gone.
