President Vladimir Putin is in Vietnam this weekend for the Asia Pacific
Economic Cooperation forum. He's eager to drum up trade deals in a
region that's been relatively ignored by his country since the fall of
the Soviet Union.
Some might say all this points to Russia becoming a heavy hitter on the
world economic stage, at least on the surface Putin appears to be the
key figure in this resurgence.
But how do the successful appearances line up with the economic
realities? And what of Putin's legacy for the next generation of Russians?
