China and the environment

China's rapid industrialisation has produced extraordinary growth but
there is a downside, the sheer volume of economic activity has caused
large-scale air pollution that is posing big problems for its neighbours.

Victor Mallet is the editor of the Financial Times-Asia. He discusses the changing nature of China and outlines the environmental costs
of economic development.
