We go on a walk along a road that is one of Australia's most substantial engineering achievements and arguably one of the best representations of convict gang labour in the world. In fact, the Great North Road is in the process of gaining World Heritage status. So Kerry Stewart took a trip north-west of Sydney to the town of Wiseman's Ferry, crossed the Hawkesbury River, and met up with Kieran Hosty, the curator of the Hyde Park Barracks Museum, to take a walk along the Great North Road, and find out about its fascinating history.
