There's a new kid in town which is claimed will protect ecosystems, called Biodiversity Banking. It attempts to turn biodiversity into tradeable units which developers can buy or sell in exchange for clearing land. But there are problems.

Amazon drought

The drought currently gripping the Amazon basin has been declared the worst in a century, says the National Institute of Space Research. World Biodiversity expert Thomas Lovejoy says it may be linked to the climate-changed induced severe hurricanes which have been sweeping North America this year.
Weeds for Sale!

Should invasive plant species be banned from sale or at least carry warning labels? Invasive plants are being sold in nurseries and supermarkets around Australia. This is despite the $4 billion damage that established weeds now inflict on the environment. What can we do about it? And who should be responsible?
