Conrad's Secret Detonator and Mind Gallery

We owe more than we may realise to the novelist Joseph Conrad. It was he who first made the link, in fiction, between espionage, terrorism and conspiracy theory in his darkly humorous novel The Secret Agent. Written in 1907 and turned into movies (in 1936 by Alfred Hitchcock and sixty years later by Christopher Hampton), it's about a group of London anarchists -- including an American would-be suicide bomber -- who plot the downfall of civilisation. Radio Nederland producer David Swatling draws the connection between Conrad's grim satire and current reality. The program includes 'Mind Gallery' -- art lessons for corporate employees whose bosses want them to be creative
