Pride
|
"Pride" according to Thomas Aquinas is "the inordinate appetite for one's own superiority".
It is considered the gravest of sins, the essential vice, leading to all others.
It is the complete anti-god state of mind which led to Satan's downfall.
But there are two genera of pride; which is the utmost evil, and which is proper pride?
We'll leave you to decide.
This program takes in the sweeping diversity of pride from Biblical writings, Milton, John Donne, John Gay to Shelley, Yeats, D.H. Lawrence, Hillaire Belloc and contemporary Australian poets Jill Jones, Andy Quan and Samuel Wagan Watson.
