This week, the godfather of 16th and 17th century Spanish music, suburban hip-hop, rock photography from the 1970s and a nine-time Grammy winner from the edge of mainstream pop. Podcast is The Herd
Today's podcast is the hip hop band The Herd
The Herd clip on The Music Show
The Herd do their hip-hop songs with sampled music from all genres and often confrontational political lyrics. Sheryl Crow has always mixed politics and relationships in her songs, but minus the hip-hop. Henry Diltz remembers the potent mix that made up 1970s rock'n'roll when he was snapping the big names of that music generation. Viol player Jordi Savall brings in his family to perform Hespèrion XXI's scholarly yet often improvised Spanish music from the 16th and 17th centuries.
