On The Music Show this week, two theatre works about girls and words; a female jazz drummer and a book of poems about songs. Opera Australia's new production of My Fair Lady is about to have its premiere in Melbourne. Director Stuart Maunder and 'Henry Higgins' Reg Livermore will be in to talk about this much loved musical. Also premiering in Melbourne in May, a brand new piece about Alice: Victorian Opera's Through the Looking Glass will be discussed by its creators, composer Alan John and librettist Andrew Upton. Also on the show, something of a rarity, a female jazz and rock drummer: Cindy Blackman, who is currently on tour in Australia; and poet Alan Wearne talks about his latest collection The Australian Popular Songbook.
