Eric Bibb and Danny Thompson in concert in Australia

A live performance from two outstanding musicians, bluesman Eric Bibb and the legendary bass player Danny Thompson.

Bibb is one of the latest generation of acoustic blues musicians who's taken the form and added a new dimension to it. He also pays tribute to those who've gone before and to the roots of the music. His own blues are very much about authenticity in content as well as style. He's been praised by musicians like Taj Mahal and recognized in the press, as the 'blues voice for the new century'.

Growing up in New York, Eric was surrounded by some extraordinary musicians. His father, Leon Bibb, was a folk and musical theatre singer, his godfather was the legendary singer Paul Robeson, and his uncle the renowned pianist from the Modern Jazz Quartet, John Lewis.

Eric Bibb is a fine guitarist with a compelling voice and although now based in London, he tours regularly and often includes Australia in his itinerary. He was here for the Australian festivals in March and April and was joined for the tour by the great bass player Danny Thompson of Pentangle fame.

Danny Thompson has appeared on literally hundreds of albums with a who's who of internationally recognised musicians of all kinds, including John Martyn, Bert Jansch, Freddie Hubbard, Toumani Diabate, Little Walter and the Blind Boys of Alabama. He received a Lifetime achievement award in 2007 at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.

Recorded at the Blue Mountains Music Festival in March 2007.
First broadcast in Music Deli in June 2007
