Tony McManus is one of the most sought after folk guitarists in
the world. He's recognised as a virtuoso performer who's brought
new life to the genre with his outstanding performances of Celtic
and other folk musics.
McManus teamed up with the wonderful French bass player, Alain
Genty in 1996 and they've released a number of CD's together including
"Singing Sands" which features a series of tunes from
Cape Breton, Scotland, Brittany, the Balkans and beyond.
They toured Australia in March and April this year and Live On
Stage caught this concert in Fremantle at the tail end of their
highly successful tour.
Xavier Rudd

Multi-instrumentalist Xavier Rudd is a new voice in contemporary
Australian roots music. With 2 solo albums under his belt, two US
tours and appearances in most of the large Australian festivals,
Rudd has made his mark with his unique mixture of guitars, didgeridoos,
harmonicas, foot percussion and heartfelt vocals.
He's toured with Ani de Franco and performed
with Jack Johnson and Michael Franti, Franti joining Xavier on stage
for a song during last year's East Coast Blues and Roots Festival
- a recognition of Xavier's infectious appeal.
Growing up as a keen surfer on the southern
Victorian coast in Torquay, set the tone for Rudd's approach to
music and to the music business - he's maintained his independence
and openness and passionate commitment to his music.

A jazz quartet which has developed one of the most distinctive sounds
in Australian jazz today. Lead by virtuoso trombone player, James
Greening, this group has worked together for ten years and their
sound is a product of their original compositions and arrangements
that at times move beyond jazz to embrace music of many kinds.
The band features Andrew Robson, alto saxophone, Steve Elphick,
double bass, Toby Hall, drums and James Greening, trombone and in
this concert which launched the band's 2003 CD, "Way Back",
included special guest appearances from Jackie Orszaczky, piccolo
bass, vocals and Matthew Doyle, didjeridu.

Joni Mitchell is one of the most significant singer/songwriters of the last 30 years. Her body of work is huge and her influence on contemporary music has been enormous. Join some of Sydney's best singers in this celebration of song which was held in The Basement in May this year. Performers in this concert include, Rachel Gaudry, Tanya Bowra, Robyne Dunn and Kristen Cornwall.
