If ever you needed convincing of the benefits of installing a spy-hole in your front door, this very creepy horror about a young couple (Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman) hiding in a house with a bloodthirsty gang outside will do it. One particular scene early on had the preview audience I saw this with gasp in unison. This is cleverly done and what frightens most is what occurs off screen or on the edge of frame. Ultimately, though, the film's nihilism feels a little adolescent. While it's the scariest thing I've seen in a while, it's also the nastiest.
