Cloverfield

Cloverfield is a much-hyped-on-the-net monster movie shot Blair Witch style. This film made me seasick. The conceit is that the film was made by an amateur on home video, but the camera was hurled around so much it made the cinematography of Blair Witch look like steadicam.
The editing and effects were sharp, the monster passable though hardly new, but the performances involved far too much evidently improvised running and screaming. Even in the video shop, I'd go for Godzilla instead.
