Talkback: Competition in sport
In the UK there are moves to reintroduce competition in school sport, along with the individual races, prize-giving and trophies.
In Australia, sport is often described as the national religion, and is very much a part of our identity. But there's been a decline in school sport, and a swing towards it being more about participation, less about winning.
So is competition a good motivator or a turn off?
