When lifesavers become killers
They have the opportunity -- and they have the means.
But, thankfully, it's very rare indeed for nurses to murder patients.
Despite this rarity, John Field, a psychiatric nurse and lawyer, didn't shy away from the issue, doing for his PhD one of the few studies into why nurses sometimes kill.
Dr Field is also in charge of James Cook University's Nursing School on Thursday Island in the Torres Strait.
