Nurses and primary care

Should GPs be the gatekeepers in our health system?

The AMA thinks so but federal Health Minister Nicola Roxon is keen to expand the role of nurses, physiotherapists and other allied health professionals.

The AMA believes that GPs should be the first port of call while nurses say they're well qualified to deliver primary care.
