James Carleton
James cut his radio teeth in the bush, working as a journalist and announcer in
Muswellbrook and Bateman's Bay. In 1999, he made it to the big smoke, working
as the producer of Tony Delroy's Nightlife. The most demanding episode was
September 11th 2001, when as the program was beginning to wind down for the
night, New York and Washington were attacked. He kept the coverage going till
5am.
Since then, he's moved to the more genteel environs of Radio National's Lifelong
Learning, the highlight being his 13-part feature series on small business
management in Australia. Having grown up working in his own family's small
business made the project all the more rewarding.
He loves family life, comedy, documentaries, numismatics, and of course
everyone's ABC.
