About Lifelong Learning
The complexity and diversity of modern life challenges us to understand
the fuller context of issues and ideas. Lifelong Learning develops
a theme over six to thirteen weeks, in an open, accessible manner, steadily
building a big picture of the topic in question.
Series are often tied to units of study
offered through universities and colleges. They are produced with the support
of subject specialists from Australia and overseas. Listeners can enrol as
students in the units offered by Open Learning
Australia (OLA). Lifelong broadcasts generally follow the Open Learning year, which comprises
four study periods. Series can be heard a number of times through the year.
Radio National's Lifelong Learning builds on the success of the creative
partnership between OLA and the ABC, which has yielded many, quality TV,
Radio and New Media projects since 1993.
The Lifelong Learning program schedule, also incorporates series about Asia
and the Pacific produced by Radio
Australia's Education Unit.
The Executive Producer of Lifelong Learning is Joe
Gelonesi.
