Late Night Live in Timor-Leste
In early October 2007, Late Night Live's Phillip Adams went to Timor-Leste to meet the people and investigate the politics and culture of the world's newest nation. He was gathering material for a special series of radio programs for broadcast on Late Night Live.
Starting on Monday 22 October 2007, Late Night Live broadcast a whole week of programs based on Phillip's Timor-Leste trip. The series continued with weekly programs through November and December. Use the links to the left to find video interviews, slide-shows, extra audio, guest information and further information links for each of these programs.
For the duration of the trip, Phillip had a daily online presence via a blog. All of this great content is still available. There are video postcards, photo galleries, audio postcards and Phillip's blog posts. You can also follow Phillip's progress around the island on an interactive map.
Phillip spoke to the country's political leaders about the immense social and economic challenges ahead. He travelled to towns and traditional villages, in the mountains and along the coastal plains, to talk to ordinary East Timorese. This is an immensely proud, culturally rich and deeply religious country in which everybody has a remarkable story of survival.
