The Accompanist

An exploration of the pianist's perspective on the partnership with the singer in a song recital, or with an instrumentalist in a chamber music duo. What is the place of the piano in these intimate forms of music making and how is the work of the accompanist different from the work of the soloist?
Meet Scottish pianist and broadcaster Iain Burnside in conversation at the piano, on-stage at the Perth Concert Hall during his Australian tour with Yvonne Kenny. In Adelaide, we'll eavesdrop on an absorbing masterclass given by renowned Australian pianist David Miller and, from the archives, come precious insights from legendary accompanists Gerald Moore and Geoffrey Parsons.
