GKRS - Carole King

Garrison Keillor has been awarded the prestigious John Steinbeck Award which, in typical contrary fashion, he uses as a springboard for an extended meditation on the decline of his show. He dates it to the day the sound effects man joined the team—and, a warning, the program includes a rendition of the sound of an ice cream being dropped into a fax machine.

Legendary songwriter Carole King is also on the show, reprising some of her most famous songs 'Where you lead, I will follow' and '(You make me feel like a) Natural Woman'. Not to mention some unforgettable songs about trains from bluegrass pickers John Starling and Mike Auldridge.
