Alcohol and its effects seem to occur frequently in writers' accounts of their public humiliation!
David Harsent was born in Devon in 1942, and left school at 16 to work in a bookshop. After working in publishing for many years, he embarked on a new life - under the names Jack Curtis and David Lawrence - as a writer of crime fiction. His has also published poetry.
