Dark Star Safari by Paul Theroux
Acclaimed travel writer Paul Theroux revisited Africa, where he had lived and worked as a member of the Peace Corps, after thirty years to undertake an epic journey from Cape Town to Cairo. It is a trip where chance encounter is everything, where departure and arrival time are an irrelevance and where contentment could be found balancing on top of a truck in the middle of nowhere. Encountered along the way are beauty, squalor, friendship and danger in equal measure.
Paul Theroux was born in the United States in 1941, and has lived in Italy, Singapore and the UK, as well as Africa. He has published over thirty books including novels and essays.
