Classic Comedy line-up for 2008 — 5.30 every morning
Monday: Just A Minute
'It's Piffle! It's The Shipping Forecast! It's Dating Agencies! It's Windpower!' And these are just some of the subjects hilariously tackled by radio's favourite chatterers for Just A Minute. All—hopefully, but usually hopelessly—without repetition, deviation or hesitation.
Tuesday: Many a Slip
Wednesday: My Music
An entertaining and informative musical quiz. Ian Wallace and Dennis Norden challenge Frank Muir and John Amis, while Steve Race keeps the score.
Thursday: My Word
A panel game about words, played by people whose business is words. My Word also features Denis Norden and Frank Muir on a regular basis.
Friday: The Goons
For decades the Goons have delighted radio listeners of all ages. The trio of Peter Sellers, Spike Milligan and Harry Secombe set a standard for radio comedy that has never been equalled. They were the genesis of a particular style of English comedy. Everyone from Monty Python to The Young Ones is indebted to them, and their surreal humour is as funny today as it was in the 50s. You can see program broadcast details here.
