Bernard Tschumi: the architect's architect
|
Those of you passionate about architecture and, more generally, those of you in love with Paris will know of his famous Parc de Vilette, the 125-acre contemporary parkland in north-eastern Paris. And many will know of his writings.
Swiss-born Bernard Tschumi was for many year the dean of architecture at the illustrious Columbia University in New York City. He is now in private practice and is working on a number of projects around the world—including Europe, China, and New York City itself. His New Acropolis Museum in Athens is about to open to the public. He lives between Paris and New York, between what he describes as a 19th century city—Paris—and a 20th century city, New York.
