Music from album of the week: Asa by Asa
It's a flip on the usual Franco-African migration. Asa was born in Paris to Nigerian parents and returned to Nigeria at the age of two. With only brothers for company, and her parents often absent, Asa turned to music. Her father's record collection to start with, a mix of soul classics and Nigerian music. She learned guitar on the sly, and started to make music. She rejected offers to tour and record until she was ready.
