Problems facing medical interns
Australia has long suffered from a national shortage of doctors, in fact it's estimated that one third of our doctors are trained overseas. One obvious solution is to increase the number of medical students who study here, and over the last couple of years universities around the country have done just that.
But now medical students say young interns are missing out on adequate training because there are too many students enrolling at medical schools. They say patient care is being compromised and are calling on the Federal government to stop increasing university places in medicine.
