Hurricane Gustav heads towards US Gulf coast
Mass evacuations are underway across the US Gulf region as hurricane Gustav continues to head towards land. US President George W. Bush will personally travel to Texas to oversee the emergency operation.
The mayor of New Orleans Ray Nagin called it 'the mother of all storms' and has ordered residents to evacuate the city. He has imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew across the city, warning looters that they would be sent to jail immediately.
