New Senate prepares to convene in Canberra

A new era will unfold in Canberra this week as the new Senate convenes for the first time since last year's election. Fourteen new Senators will be sworn in tomorrow. But most of the focus will be on the cross-benchers who will hold the balance of power -- and possibly the fate of the Rudd government's first term agenda in their hands.
