Preview of the week ahead in business and finance
China dominated the gold medal podium at the Olympic Games. But sport's not the only area where it's a global leader, China now also dominates the international banking sector. The country's largest financial institution, The Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, was named the world's most profitable bank after it unveiled a half-year profit of nearly $US11 billion.
That puts it well ahead of its western rivals HSBC and Citigroup. But debate still rages as to whether China can remain immune to the global economic slowdown.
