Qantas reports 44 per cent rise in profit despite higher fuel costs
Few sectors have felt the impact of soaring oil prices more than the airline industry. Our own national carrier, Qantas, though, seems to be bucking the trend and reported a 44 per cent rise in annual net profit as a result of cutting capacity and raising fares. But the airline admits a spate of recent mid-air woes has damaged its reputation.
