Software cheats

There are more than one billion PCs in the world. And according to one industry study, nearly half the computers are installed with unlicensed software. For many years now, the big software companies have been joining forces to do something about it. They're taking civil action in the courts across the globe against businesses using illegal software.

In Australia, 15 companies are being targeted by the the Business Software Alliance, a group set up by companies like Microsoft and Apple to represent them. But there's a concern they're using heavy-handed tactics, and catching inadvertent users of unlicensed software in their net.
