New tourism plan

The latest Rudd government taskforce is to develop a new tourism plan in an effort to try and get the tourism industry back on track. Numbers are down, especially from Britain, New Zealand and Hong Kong. But more worrying for tourism chiefs is the 19% slump in Japanese visitors. Former Qantas chairwoman Margaret Jackson will head the committee of nine prominent Australians including former Victorian premier Jeff Kennett.
