Captives release by Colombian guerrilla group FARC
After six years as a captive of leftist guerrillas in the Colombian jungle, French-Colombian politician Ingrid Betancourt has this morning been rescued by Colombian military forces. Ms Bentancourt was freed along with three US nationals and 11 Colombian soldiers who were also being held captive by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). The charismatic green-party politician was seized during a bid to win Colombia's presidential race in 2002.
