Federal politics with Michelle Grattan: pre Budget
On the weekend the Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, revealed a 'root and branch' review of the tax system. This week's Budget will set up a review to look into tax at nearly every level, to be run by the head of Treasury Ken Henry. But the review won't include the GST or tax free superannuation arrangements, prompting some to question just how serious the government is about reform.
