Olive Weston's Story
|
Australian folklore loves a larrikin almost as much as it loves a war hero. And just occasionally, you get people who are both of those things. Today our figure in history is one very feisty Australian woman, Olive Weston.
As a child growing up in Queensland in the '30s, she once ran up the back of a sleeping crocodile. And she didn't lose that mix of bravery and panache as she got older, serving as a nurse during World War 2.
To tell us more we're joined now by Peter Fenton, documentary maker and author of a book on Olive Weston.
