As America warns the world that it plans to spread the war on terrorism to other countries, the situation in South Asia looks grim. Afghanistan's nuclear neighbours India and Pakistan are building up border troops, fighting across the border in Kashmir, imposing economic sanctions and issuing warnings about full-scale "war".
