6:23: BARD'S DOPE:Michel Panayotov talks with Dr Frances Thackery, head of Paleonthology at the Transvaal Museum in Pretoria about new research, analysing pipes found at the Bard's home in Stratford-Upon-Avon, to see if they carry traces of marijuana. He already believes William Shakespeare's use of complex imagery of darkness and mental journeys are evidence of drug-induced visions.

6:37: EXTREME ENDURANCE:Ian Brown, author and photographer, talks from the Blue Mountains of NSW about the parallels between the endurance of Olympic athletes and that of Antractic explorers.

6:44: NSW GIRLFIGHTERS:Janice Crosswhite, secretary of NSW Women's Sport and Recreation, talks from Sydney about women in the ring. In NSW, women can spar and train in the boxing ring, but they aren't able to compete.

6:48: MID-EAST SUMMIT:Judith Kipper, director of the Middle East Studies Programme at the Centre for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, talks about renewed efforst to revive the Middle East peace process. Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak and Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat are meeting separately with Bill Clinton.

7:34: BART'S BOOK:Bruce Montgomerie talks about his book which traces horse trainer Bart Cummings' amazing life and career on the track. "The Cups King" is his second book on Cummings.

7:38: POLITICAL UPDATE:Michelle Grattan, chief political correspondent with the Sydney Morning Herald updates the political scene in Canberra.

7:42: WASHINGTON UPDATE:Linda Wertheimer, from National Public Radio's "All Things Considered" talks from Washington on the day before the US Presidential election.

7:48: LIGHTHOUSE DRAMA:John Barham, Byron Bay Shire councillor Jan Barham talks from her home about the 100th birthday of the Cape Byron lighthouse and the subsequent international exposure of the town.

7:55: NZ FERAL SHELLS:Dr Nic Bax is an ecologist at CSIRO Marine Research in Hobart. He talks about the New Zealand the screw shell-fish that's penetrated Sydney Harbour after a journey of about 70 years. It's one of 200-introduced marine pests - and biologists are warning of unknown environmental consequences with its' arrival in the Harbour.

8:06: BARNS REPUBLIC:Greg Barns is replacing Malcolm Turnbull as the campaign director of the Australian Republican Movement. He talks from Sydney about re-invigorating the issue to allow Australians to show their level of support for a republic.

8:14: RICHARD'S HEAVEN:
Theatre director Richard Wherret talks about his new book "The Floor of Heaven" which offers some rare insights into the minds of some of this country's greatest theatre practitioners.
