The scientific evidence for the effectiveness of complementary medicine such as homeopathy is regularly raised by detractors. Nevertheless, complementary and alternative medicine is very widely used. At least 20 per cent of the British population use complementary medicine and it is even used by the Queen. Dr Peter Fisher, Honourable Consultant Rheumatologist at King's College Hospital, treats the most famous of patients, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
