In a republished collection of Mark Twain's travel writing about Australia, Don Watson introduces us to the man and his works and explains what the most famous man in the world was doing changing trains in the middle of the night at Albury, because of the different train gauges, going to Bendigo and Ballarat and to the Melbourne Cup. The collection is called The Wayward Tourist: Mark Twain's Adventures in Australia. It republishes edited extracts about Twain's travels around Australia from his book Following the Equator.
