Ruby Langford Ginibi
13/06/2006
At the Sydney Writers' Festival last month, the Australia Council presented the 2005 Writers' Emeritus Award to Dr Ruby Langford Ginibi, a prize that acknowledges eminent writers over the age of sixty-five who have made outstanding contributions to Australian literature.
Dr Ruby Langford Ginibi made her literary debut at the age of fifty-four, with her autobiography Don't Take Your Love to Town, published in 1988. She tells Ramona Koval that it is not only her own story, but the story of every Aboriginal woman trying to raise a family.
