Behind the Scenes at the Museum
|
by Kate Atkinson
abridged by Rosemary Goring
The wonderfully quirky 1995 Whitbread Book of the Year tells the story of Ruby Lennox, from her deeply unromantic conception through to middle age. She has a philandering father who runs a pet shop, a mother who is intensely irritable and two older sisters who are her constant companions. But as Ruby grows up she realises that the family is shielding her from a terrible secret, and she lies at its heart.
